Three Time Olympic Champion
Morelon made his Olympic debut in 1964 in Tokyo, winning a bronze medal in the 1,000 meter match sprint and finishing 9th in the 2,000 meter tandem sprint. At the 1968 Olympics in Mexico City, he won gold in both events. At the 1972 Olympics, Morelon again won the match sprint and finished fourth in the tandem. He captured the silver medal at the 1976 Olympics in the match sprint, as the tandem race was no longer an Olympic event. Morelon won the world championships in match sprint seven times (1966, '67, '69, '70, '71, '73 & '75) and the tandem event in 1966. As a proessional in 1980, he won bronze medals at the world championships in the match sprint and the kieren.
